Arts Guild to Host Holiday Event Friday

Tis’ the season! This Friday, December 6 the Butler County Arts Guild is hosting the Celebration of Lights and Sounds 6:30-8:30 PM at the community mural on the Morgantown Square.  Barring potential bad weather, the event is set to feature a tree lighting, performances by members of the Butler County High School Band & Choir, holiday art, free hot chocolate & coffee, traditional Christmas carols, warm fires and possibly a visit from Santa himself! Members of the guild anticipate a great time and encourage you to invite all your friends and family!

“We’re asking everyone to please keep your fingers crossed for good weather,” said BCAG member Josh Hampton. “We're not going to make the call until Thursday evening or Friday morning, so we’re operating this week under the assumption that the event is happening.”

If anyone is still interested in sponsoring the event you can do so by getting in touch with Josh 792-5761 or Gary Smrtic 999-9264 or just stop by Morgantown Bank & Trust and tell them you’d like to donate to the Arts Guild.

“We’re very appreciative of everyone who has donated so far, be it time or money,” said Hampton. “It takes hard work and it takes funds to make an event like this happen. Thanks to our current sponsors Morgantown Bank, Butler County Tourism Commission, Members of the Morgantown City Council, The Farm Boy, Morgantown Mayor Linda Keown, and Beech Tree News.”

If any one can help, volunteers are needed at the event for various items such as serving hot drinks, manning the fires and other small items and are asked to show up Friday night about 5 or 5:30 and they’ll find a spot for you!

Also in conjunction with the event, there will be a BCAG Santa Art Show open at Beech Tree News along with paintings from Andrea’s Mission for Men and the DAR Festival of Trees annual dinner at the Cousin Don Building.

“All of these events are within walking distance and our hope is that people will take advantage of all 3 events,” Hampton said.  “Working together and supporting each other will make for a better Morgantown & Butler County.”
