42nd Annual Gilstrap Community Pie Supper

Sounds of music, good conversation, and laughter floated through the air in Gilstrap on Saturday, September, 3rd for the 42nd Annual Gilstrap Community Pie Supper. The crowd was considerably larger this year than in previous years. Campaign season was also very evident as several politicians and those looking to run for various offices mingled with those in the crowd.
One new change to the pie supper this year was the addition of vendors. Visitors had the opportunity to browse through the various booths to shop for boutique clothing, homemade lotions and soaps, and various other items.
Participants could enjoy several games, concessions, and the auction. For years Woody Allen has performed the auction duties solo, but this year was assisted by Erin Moore of Big South Reality & Auction. Always a crowd favorite was Shirley Allen’s Cake Walk. Formerly lead by Shirley Allen, the cake walk was led this year by Kenny Snodgrass.
One game drew a large crowd…the dunking booth. This year’s lucky person to be in the booth was Superintendent Scott Howard. Several lined up for their opportunity to dunk him while several more looked on in entertainment. Between the concessions, booth rentals, games, and auction all proceeds raised from the event went to benefit the Gilstrap Community Center. This yearly event is very influential in raising the funds needed to maintain the upkeep of the community center. Everyone's time and attendance are greatly appreciated. The community of Gilstrap looks forward to seeing everyone again next year and continuing to grow this event.
