2nd District Fire Department's Annual Fall Family Fun Day
The 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department held their Annual Fall Family Fun Day. They kicked the day off with the Antique Tractor and Car Show.
"We had a great day, it is always good to see everybody. Events like this help us raise much-needed funds for the fire department. Currently, we are in need a a new pumper truck," said Fred Tate, Chairman of the 2nd District Volunteer Fire Department Board.
The Little Miss 2nd District Pageants winners included:
7-12 Month Girls
Winner-Emalyn Pearl Southerland daughter of Tim and Mandy Southerland
First Runner-Up- Kaylin Marie Hooten daughter of Bobbie and Regina Hooten
2-3 Year Old Girls
Winner- Lola Paige Dickerson daughter of Cody Dickerson and Bridgette Dockery and First Runner-Up-Teagin Lace Pedigo daughter of Holly and Randy Pedigo
7-9 Year Old Girls
Winner- Arianna Forbes daughter of Scott and Reva Forbes
10-12 Year Old Girls
Winner Trinity Martin daughter of Holly Pedigo and Willie Martin
Barbecue plates and some delicious desserts along with a variety of raffles and a live auction help bring in much-needed funds for the fire department. Collin Coots and Friends provided bluegrass music to the enjoyment of the crowd.
William Daniel "Coon" Spencer purchased this truck new in 1964 and paid $1375 plus trade-in. He was found dead in the truck from a heart attack on February 4, 1969. William Edward "Bill" Spencer received his dad's truck the following Sunday. Howard Lee Spencer received the truck November 29, 2001, following his dad's death. It is being restored by son, Duane and grandson Ethan Spencer since September 26, 2015.
