180 fourth-graders attend Farm Safety Day

The Charles T. Black City Park in Morgantown was the scene for the annual Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Day. Morgantown Elementary and North Butler Elementary bussed over 180 fourth graders for eight sessions of safety in fire, chemicals, utility, transportation, water, electrical, tractor, PTO, and ATV.

The event was organized by LeeAnn Daugherty, BCHS Agriculture teacher, and Melissa Glass, of the Family Resource Center. Each student received a hat, tee shirt, an informational bag, and lunch.
The day kicked off with a Fire Safety program presented by Kids on the Block and ended with tractor PTO and ATV demonstrations.

"My favorite presentation was the car that rolled over showing how important it is to wear your seatbelt," said Isabella Embry, a fourth grader at North Butler Elementary.
Presenters included Warren RECC, Kentucky Department of Transporation,  Morgantown Utilities,  Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department, and Jana Conway.  Future Farmers of America and Butler County 4-H members also assisted. Sponsors included Bunge, John Deere, Crop Production Services, Agrium, Toyota, Farm Credit, TransCanada, ADM, CHS Foundation, Monsanto, and Enbridge.
