Henry B. Threlkel

Henry B. Threlkel, 91,of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center in Morgantown. Mr. Threlkel was born April 5, 1922 in Butler County, to the late Carter Clay Threlkel and Carrie Myrtle Young Threlkel.  He was a WWII Veteran where he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Enterprise in the South Pacific.


Geraldine Holman Griffin

Geraldine Holman Griffin, 84,  of Prudenville, Michigan, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Griffin was born September 23, 1928, in Butler County, to the late James Clifton Holman and Edna Flewallen Holman. She was a member of Monticello Baptist Church.  Mrs. Griffin was a Blueprint Operator and a Sewing Instructor for Sears & Roebuck. She was preceded in death by her parents and  sister Camilla Kay MacMunn.


Mary Frances Gray Tarrence

Mary Frances Gray Tarrence, 74,  of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky.  Ms. Tarrence was born September 17, 1938, in Butler County, to the late Earl Gray and Donna Burden Gray. She was a homemaker, attended  Mt Lebanon Presbyterian Church. Mary's past times included cooking, shopping, playing bingo and going to yard sales.


William Paul "Bill" Hampton Jr.

William Paul "Bill" Hampton Jr., 72, of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Monday August 26, 2013 at his residence. Bill was born April 2, 1941 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Paul and Margaret Penick Hampton.  He was a member and elder of Morgantown Church of Christ. Known by his students as "Mr. Bill", he was an agriculture teacher and FFA Advisor at Butler County High School from 1978 - 2000. He was also a farmer, active in the Butler County 4H, Butler County Extension Service Office, and Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.


Dolores Ann Poteet

Dolores Ann Poteet, 78,  of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013, at her residence. Ms. Poteet was born January 24, 1937, in Edmonson County, to the late Raymond Houchen and Snow Alexander Houchen.  She was a retired secretary from the Lakeview Nursing Home in Morgantown. She was a member of  Pleasant Union United Baptist Church for 65 years.   Ms. Poteet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arley Poteet, and one sister Hazel Ray.


Wilson "Wid" Mason

Wilson "Wid" Mason, 88 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Saturday August 17, 2013 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  Wid was born January 21,1925 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Homer and Elizabeth Watkins Mason and husband of the late Catherine Elizabeth Johnson Mason. He was a member of Belmont General Baptist Church, 60 plus year  member of Cassia Lodge #272, World War II United States Navy Veteran and a retired riverboat pilot. Preceded in death by son in law Dewayne Johnson. Expression of sympathy may be made to the Salem Cemetery Fund 498 L. Moore Rd. Morgantown, Ky.


Dewey Glenn Kinkade

Dewey Glenn Kinkade, 83, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Baptist Health of Paducah. Dewey was born June 3, 1930, in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Westerfield and Bonnie Russ Kinkade. He was a member of Woodbury Missionary Baptist Church and retired from the Eaton Corp. Kinkade wa preceded in death by three sisters;  Hazel Smith, Gussie K. Phelps, and Inie Bell Kinkade; and three brothers; James, Herbert and Denzil Kinkade.
Dewey Glenn Kinkade is survived by several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law.


Thornton Rudolph "Rudy" Belcher

Thornton Rudolph "Rudy" Belcher, 89,  of Sugar Grove, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. Mr. Belcher was born January 15, 1924, in Butler County, to the late Ithra Belcher and Rena Ragland Belcher.  He was a retired  diesel mechanic and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Belcher was the NSDAR veteran of the year in 2009. He was a member of  the Masonic Lodge #280, a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, and his past times included farming and fishing.  Mr.


Louis Edward Mudd

Louis Edward Mudd, age 82, of Caneyville, KY passed away on Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 at his home in Caneyville.

Mr. Mudd was born June 7th, 1931 in Grayson County, KY to the late Roy and Mertie (Elder) Mudd. Mr. Mudd was a member of the Pleasant Union (Wilson) United Baptist Church in Caneyville. He was retired from Otis Bryant & Son Milling in Caneyville.


Vernie "Paul" Belcher

Vernie "Paul" Belcher, 87,  of Owensboro, Ky. passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Belcher was born December 30, 1925 in Butler County, to the late Herschel Belcher and Florence Applin Belcher.  He was a Service Foreman at Atmos Gas for 32 years,  WWII Navy Veteran. He was presented with the Green River Chapter NSDAR Veteran of the year in 2008. He was a member of The American Legion and Parrish Avenue Baptist Church. His hobbies included being a vendor at Flea markets, refinishing furniture and watching UK. His favorite thing was the love of his grandchildren .
