Alton F. Givens

Alton F. Givens, age 81 of Morgantown, KY passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Alton was born on Thursday,  April 11, 1940 in Butler County, Kentucky to the late Percy and Esther Hammers Givens and husband of the late Linda Peay Givens. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of New Midway Missionary Baptist Church. Alton retired from Emerson Electric after 30 years and he loved to fish. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one grandson Joshua Givens and two sisters Pauline Bailey and Pearl Butler.

Trenton Morgan Howard

Trenton Morgan Howard, age 32, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Morgantown, Ky. Trenton was born on Sunday, November 19, 1989 in Bowling Green, KY to the late James Morgan "Jimmy" Howard and Linda Michele Bruner Parker who survives. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, loved to fish and was a former employee of Real Alloy. Other than his father Trenton is preceded in death by one aunt, Tina Cardwell and one uncle, Keith Hatcher.

Warren Miller

BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Warren Miller, 89, of Roundhill passed away at 9:50 PM Jan. 18, 2022 at Morgantown Care and Rehab.

The Edmonson County native was a graduate of Sunfish High School, a retired utility repairman for Ford Motor Co., a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Roundhill Church of Christ. He was a son of the late George Washington Miller and Elva Jewel Nash Miller and the husband of the late Earline Robinson Miller. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Buster Miller and Edsel Miller.

Philip Ray Embry

Philip Ray Embry, 40, of Rochester, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.   He was born in Bowling Green, Ky. on Sept. 6, 1981. Philip was a painter and enjoyed being with his family.  He was preceded in death by his father Frankie Embry; grandparents Joddie and Mildred Embry and Billy and JoAnn Christian.

Philip is survived by his children Chloe and Ayden Embry; mother Judy Embry; sisters Sarah Embry and Gracie Embry; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edwin Adan Orellana

Edwin Adan Orellana, age 15, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born in Bowling Green, Ky. on July 22, 2006.  He was a Sophomore at Butler Co. High School where he excelled in Geometry.  He was in the Butler Co. Band where he played the trombone and loved playing video games and making scrambled eggs.  He loved his friends and had the biggest heart for everyone.

Mary Frances Hall Shirley

Mary Frances Hall Shirley, age 89, of Beaver Dam, Ky. passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022 at the Ohio Co. Hospital.  She was born in Harlan, Ky. on April 3, 1932 to the late John and Tilithia Hutchinson Hall.  She moved to Ypsilanti, MI as a young girl then moved to Beaver Dam, KY in 2015.  Mary was a cancer survivor, homemaker and a member of the Kingdom Hall.

Dianna Smith Phelps, 69, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at her residence. She was born on December 28, 1952 in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Nora Shepherd Smith. She was an LPN and a member of Gillyville Baptist Church. She loved to clean. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Billy Joe Phelps; great grandson Dayne Kennedy; brothers Laymond, Odel, Earl and Billy Smith; sister Ruth Ann Childres.

Larry Forgy, prominent KY Republican with longstanding family ties to Butler County, dies at 82

Larry Forgy, a prominent Kentucky Republican with longstanding family ties to Butler and Logan counties died on January 13.  Well-known across the state and especially in Butler County, Forgy ran for governor three times in Kentucky, losing a close election in 1995 to Paul E. Patton.

Larry Wayne Porter

Larry Wayne Porter, 74 of Bowling Green passed away January 11, 2022 in Bowling Green. He was the son of the late Clarence & Thelma Porter. Larry was born in Bowling Green on April 14, 1947.

Larry was a pharmacist at The Prescription Center in Morgantown, KY. He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by 3 cousins; Rusty Porter, Stacha Murphy and Charla Snodgrass and his aunt Carolyn Porter.

Bob Whittinghill, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 10, 2022. The Kyrock, KY native was a son of the late Willard Whittinghill and Janie Elzo Chambers Whittinghill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Burke Whittinghill, the love of his life; daughter, Charity Whittinghill; two brothers, Carl Whittinghill and Gary Whittinghill; and sister, Vernita Weinstein.
