Esther Duke

Esther Duke, 94, passed away on Saturday September 28, 2019.  She was born in Butler Co., KY on December 14, 1924 to the late Joe and Donnie (Dockery) Phelps.  She was retired from Baptist Health Hospital.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Glendon Duke.  Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steve (Sandy) and Gary Duke; a sister, Martella Mason; brother, Chandler Phelps; grandchildren, Amanda Anderson (Joel), Amy Duke and David Duke (Samantha); and a great granddaughter, Piper Anderson.   Funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Southern

Sandra Elaine “Sandy” Geary Phelps

Sandra Elaine “Sandy” Geary Phelps, 66, of Centertown, Kentucky passed away September 28, 2019 surrounded by her family at Norton’s Healthcare in Louisville. She was born April 25, 1953 in Leitchfield, Kentucky to the late Robert William Geary and Sally Ann Evans Geary. Sandy retired from Ohio County Healthcare and worked for many years at Beaver Dam Café.

Aside from her parents Sandy was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie (Elaine) Geary and four sisters, Rose (Charles) Maiden, Faye (Jim) Naue, Mattie (Royce) Bratcher and Helen Geary.

Ila Pearl Deweese

Ila Pearl Deweese, 98 of Morgantown, Kentucky passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Ila was born September 19, 1921 in Butler County, KY to the late John and Martha Sublett Gray and wife of the late Wallace R. Deweese. She was a member of Leonard Oak General Baptist Church and loved cooking, sewing and her family. Other than her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two daughters Judy Burden and Anna Mae Deweese; one son Johnny Deweese; 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Nathaniel F. "Buster" Haynes

Nathaniel F. "Buster" Haynes, 87 of Morgantown, KY passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at his residence. Buster was born August 15, 1932, in Edmonson County, KY to the late Vernard and Lillian Phelps Haynes and husband of the late Fannie Marie Stinson Haynes. He was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church, Cassia Masonic Lodge #272, Butler County Shrine Club and Rizaph Temple. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister Veneda Tarrance.

Melinda June Miller Brown, 41, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. She was born in Warren Co., Ky. on September 26, 1977 to the late Marvin Colter and Barbara Miller Colter.  She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Vanessa Miller.

James William Oberhausen

James William Oberhausen, 84 of Davis Crossroads, KY passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Monday, September 23, 2019 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. James was born August 18, 1935 in Logan County, KY to the late George Lasley and Ruby Mae Prater Oberhausen. He was a retired logger, owner and operator of Oberhausen Logging and was a born again Christian. James loved fishing, farming and Bluegrass music.

Paula Miller, 49, of Quality, KY., passed away Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Owensboro Regional Hospital. Paula was born August 31, 1970, in Logan Co., Ky., to Sandy Burden Carrol and William Sanford who survive. Paula was a Member of Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed life and her dog Sassy. Paula is preceded in death by one son, Nathaniel Gordon, maternal grandparents, Rev. Elmer and Oma Burden, two uncles; Rev. Jimmy Burden and George Moore and a cousin Timmy Burden.

Phyllis J. Embry, 78, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, September 20, 2019, at the Morgantown Care and Rehab. Phyllis was born June 8, 1941, in McCracken Co., Ky., to the late Paul and Jerlene Lee (Jerri) Jackson. Phyllis was a member of Christian Home Church of Christ and past president of the Butler Co. Arthritis Foundation. She was Registered Nurse, retiring as Plant Nurse of Sumitomo. Phyllis Loved to travel, Play softball and spend time with family and friends.

Jackie L. Burnette, age 70, of Morgantown KY, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at her residence in Morgantown under the care of her family and Hospice of Southern KY. She was born on January 28, 1949 in Butler County, KY to the late Vernon Ray and Golda Embry Calloway. Jackie attended Olaten Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Perdue in Cromwell KY. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.

Mary Ruth “Ruthie” Henderson, 64, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. She was born in Morgantown, Ky. on Jan. 31, 1955 to the late Leamon Sr. and Ilean Howard Henderson.  Ruthie was owner/operator of CNH Enterprises. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband William Joe Hancock; son Jessie Benonie “JB” Hancock and sister Ramona Cardwell.
