Candidate Dillon Bryant: 5th District Magistrate

My name is Dillon Bryant, and I am a candidate for 5th District magistrate.  I live in the Oak Ridge community where I have resided my whole life.  I farm full-time in the communities of Oak Ridge, Casey and Welches Creek; raising cattle, sheep, corn and soybeans.  I am a life-long member of Barnett’s Lick Baptist Church, where I have recently been elected and ordained as a deacon.

Butler County Grand Jury Indictments

The Butler County Grand Jury returned indictments against 38 individuals on April 26, 2018. Charges include drug trafficking,  sexual abuse, engaging in organized crime and burglary. All arraignments are set for May 8, 2018.

MORGANTOWN: City sells property to Stratus Plastics; Scotty's awarded bid for paving streets

The last few days have been busy ones for the city of Morgantown.  On Friday, April 27, Mayor Billy Phelps announced that the city had sold a major industrial property in the amount of $1,350,000 to Stratus Plastics.

Sons of the American Revolution dedicate flag at Rochester Ballpark

The Rochester Ballpark now has a new American Flag courtesy of a local civic group.  The Richard Butler Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) dedicated a new flag at a ceremony held at the Rochester Ballpark on April 27, 2018.  Several were in attendance at the event, which featured members dressed in time-period clothing reflective of their organization.

Butler County Chapter NSDAR 2018 Silver Tea

The Butler County Chapter NSDAR held their annual Silver Awards Tea on Thursday, April 26 in the Lucille Hood Room of the Butler County Public Library. There was a capacity crowd as many parents and other relatives came to see the students recognized for their achievements. The program began with a welcome from Chapter Regent Jane K. Smith and devotional by Chaplain Peggy Drake. The pledge to the flag was then led by Flag chair Lynda O’Driscoll.

Citizens gather to raise awareness of child abuse

On Saturday, April 21st, 2018 large group of citizens gathered on the lawn of the Butler County Courthouse to raise awareness of child abuse. The event consisted of many organizations volunteering their time to help bring attention to a problem that impacts Butler County.

2nd District Fire Department hosts debate event

State's March unemployment hits lowest rate in more than 40 years

FRANKFORT - Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary March unemployment rate was 4 percent, the lowest rate recorded for the state in the 42 years since the Bureau of Labor Statistics started providing data in 1976, according to the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics. The unemployment rate for March was down from the revised 4.1 percent reported for February.
