The 39th Annual Green River Catfish Festival Road Race was held Saturday, June 15. The grueling 5-mile course began on South Tyler Street in Morgantown and concluded in downtown Woodbury.

Ross West, a sophomore second baseman with the Butler County High School Baseball team, was recently named to the Third Region Tournament team. The Bears won the 12th District Tournament. Butler County fell 5-3 to Muhlenberg County in Third Region Tournament play.
Runners of all ages gathered on Monday, May 27 to run a five-mile race from Morgantown to Woodbury.
Butler County Baseball fired up the offense in the first inning. An error scored one run for the Bears. After Muhlenberg County scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Butler County answered with two of their own when Duane Daniel singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
After a rain-filled spring, the Butler County Jr. Pro Softball League wrapped up their season Tuesday night with a single elimination tournament. The Crimson Tide, coached by Kyle Newcom, came into the tournament as the top-seed and left with gold medals.
Tuesday's game against Grayson County was a heartbreaker for Butler County Bears Varsity, as they fell behind late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at two with Grayson County batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored one run for Grayson County.
Butler County defeated Grayson County 10-9 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at nine with Butler County Bears Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Duane Daniel was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
A Butler County Middle School student-athlete will soon be headed a football futures game in Louisville.
