Wreath laying ceremonies honor local veterans

"We are gathered here to pause, reflect, and honor our fellow comrades who are serving, who have served and those who have made the supreme sacrifice in the defense of our great nation."
With those words by Tom Petznick, President of the Capt. Charles Duncan Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, a wreath laying ceremony honoring veterans was held in Morgantown at Riverview and Bell Street cemeteries on Saturday, December 13.

"Let us not forget what they have done to keep our country free and to protect our 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.' The wreath that will be placed here today is one of several that will be placed at the following cemeteries:  Riverview and Bell Street," said Petznick.
The Morgantown event was one of several in Butler and Warren counties honoring the service of veterans to our nation.  The wreaths were provided by the W.K.U. Floral Department.
Eli Johnson sang the National Anthem.  Prayer was given by Jane Henderson of the Butler County NSDAR.  State Senator-elect C.B. Embry Jr. was the guest speaker.

Morgantown Mayor-elected Billy Phelps and Sharone Nash of the local VFW joined Petznick in laying the wreaths.
Bryant McClellan played "Taps" and Geoff Henderson gave the closing benediction.
