Wallace Heads to Regional Golf Tournament

Emily Wallace

Lone BCHS girls golfer, and senior, Emily Wallace will play in her final regional tournament on Tuesday, September 29th, at Hopkinsville Country Club.

Emily has been consistent throughout the entire season. She has been named medalist 4 times, which is quite an accomplishment. During this season she shot her best career round with a 35, which is two under par, at Ohio Country Country Club. She also played her best career round at Butler County High School's home course, Hidden Valley, with a 37.

When asked, Coach Lexie Smith, how Emily has prepared for her final regional tournament she replied: "Though I would have liked to have had more golfers during my first year of coaching, it has definitely been an advantage for Emily. We have been able to play the regional course in Hopkinsville several times so she knows the course and will have a chance to qualify for state."

Reflecting on her 6 year golf career, Emily shared, "My senior season has definitely not been what I expected but it has been one that I will never forget. Being the only player on the team, I have had the opportunity to do things that I wouldn't typically have been able to do."

Emily and Coach Smith want to encourage young women to acquire an interest in golf. "Some of my best high school memories were while I was playing golf. There are a lot of scholarships for female golfers and I hope that Emily gets the opportunity to further her career at the collegiate level," said Smith.

Coach Smith looks for Emily to be the 3rd female golfer at BCHS to continue on to the state tournament. Emily also has high expectations for herself. "At regionals I would like to beat my previous scores and make a run for state," Wallace stated.
