Virginia Hatcher, 78, of Utica, Kentucky died Monday, February 23, 2015, at Professional Health & Rehabilitation in Hartford, KY. She was born January 23, 1937 in Butler County, KY to the late Julian and Ruth Phelps. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Hatcher in November, 2012; brothers, Ruford Phelps and Randall Phelps of Morgantown, Kentucky.

She is survived by her children, Ruth "Dootsy" Rogers (Dale) of Owensboro and Jeff Hatcher (Becky) of Utica, KY; three grandchildren, Carl Rogers (Elizabeth "Liz"), Joshua Carl Hatcher (Haley) and Jennifer Hatcher Burden (Dusty); eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Phelps (LaVon) of Morgantown and Wandell Phelps (Sue) of Louisville; and a sister, Geneva Sweat (Tommy) of Carlisle, KY.

Services are 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
