U.S. 231 to open soon

Bluegrass Contracting Corporation out of Lexington is about to finish the $2,762,317 project on U.S. 231 in Morgantown. The contractor closed a section of U.S. 231 (West G.L. Smith Street) in Morgantown on March 10th. The closure, which was expected to last until mid-summer, is still in effect.

The project consists of adding a center turning lane, along with a curb and gutter. A sidewalk has also been added.

According to Wes Watt, Public Information Officer for District 3, the road should be open mid-September with total completion of the project expected by October.
