Thornton Rudolph "Rudy" Belcher

Thornton Rudolph "Rudy" Belcher, 89,  of Sugar Grove, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. Mr. Belcher was born January 15, 1924, in Butler County, to the late Ithra Belcher and Rena Ragland Belcher.  He was a retired  diesel mechanic and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Belcher was the NSDAR veteran of the year in 2009. He was a member of  the Masonic Lodge #280, a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, and his past times included farming and fishing.  Mr. Belcher was preceded in death by his parents, son Gary Belcher and brother Phillip Belcher.

Mr. Belcher's survivors include his wife of 69 years, Doris Applin Belcher of Sugar Grove, Ky.,1 son, Kenneth Belcher of Griffin, Ga., 1 daughter, Evonne Mercer of Louisville, Ky., 6 Grandchildren; Michelle Ewing and husband Shawn of Bowling Green, Ky., Melissa Heaton and husband Warren of Los Angeles, Ca., Chad Belcher of Conway, Ar., Marsha Mercer of Louisville, Ky., Amy Coury and husband Walker of Hawaii , Garrett Belcher and wife Katie of High Falls, Ga. , 7 great grandchildren; 2 nieces; Teresa Bell and Jennifer Belcher both of Sugar Grove, Ky.
 

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at  11:00 a.m.  with Rev. Marvin Carson and Rev. Gene Hadden officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.
