Planning & Zoning meets

Morgantown's Planning and Zoning Commission meet on Tuesday, February 3rd, at the Eva J. Hawes Community Building.  The meeting was called to order by Chairman Jody Forgy with all members present - Danny Cardwell, Patty Craig, Hobart Flener, Jr. and Bryan Locke.  Planning and Zoning Administrator Glendal Deweese was also in attendance.

The commission approved the agenda and the reading of minutes of the previous meeting.  According to the previous minutes the commission acknowledged that road construction will close a portion of West G.L. Smith Street (Hwy 231) for a projected 140 days.

Glendal Deweese reported a recent permit for a sign for Ryan Jackson.

With no unfinished business the commission moved on to new business.  Greg Fields informed the commission that he has leased his property on Maple Street to Gary Smrtic, who plans to start a new business in Morgantown.  Smrtic started a hobby business of building composite airplane parts and plans to expand production at the location on Maple Street. Smrtic answered questions from members of the commision concerning the business.

“We have already started cleaning the place up and plan to improve the appearance of the building and site as we make upgrades to the property,” said Smrtic.

The commission adjourned with no further business on the agenda.
