The Picture Man Travels Butler County...November Snow

Falling snow in Morgantown

In a historic early cold snap Butler County started getting hammered with sleet the size of BB’s at about 1a.m. Monday morning. By seven in the morning the wintry mix had turned into snow and along the Natcher at times there were near white-out conditions. School was called off and scraping car windshields became an instant morning chore. Both State and County road trucks were out on the roads and according to Timmy West “We were out on the roads early checking for trouble spots but did not have to salt or do any plowing.” Timmy also said, “Roads are in good shape all around but we will keep watching the bridges and overpasses through the night.”

State and County trucks were ready.
According to Beech Tree News Meteorologist Landon Hampton this weather event was truly historic because “This is the first time since November 1937 that we have had eight days in a row where temperatures have been below 45 degrees." Landon goes on to say that “This may turn out to be the earliest prolonged cold snap on record."

Cold, snow and sleet aside mother nature did provide us with some beautiful scenery throughout the County. The Picture man would like to thank Landon and Timmy for their help along with those that might have been driving behind him on his journey to snap these photos.
