Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

The fall primetime schedule has just begun. Although each seasons’ programming differs, the fall schedule seems to offer more new options. I enjoy choosing programs for my watch-if-I-can list. At the beginning of the season, my DVR will get a workout.

The “big three” networks’ fall primetime schedule includes a mixture of old and new programs.
•    ABC
Some of the new programs include The Muppets, Beyond the Tank, Dr. Ken, Blood & Oil, and Quantico. Some returning programs are Castle, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nashville, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, and Once Upon a Time.
•    CBS
New programs include Angel from Hell, Code Black, Life in Pieces, Limitless, and Supergirl. Some returning programs are the NCIS programs, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods, Madam Secretary, the CSI programs, and The Good Wife.
•    NBC
The new programs include Blindspot, Chicago Med, Heroes Reborn, The Player, and Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris. Some returning programs are Chicago Fire, The Mysteries of Laura, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago P.D., The Blacklist, and Grimm.

Many people have a favorite program that they don’t want to miss or know of a new program that they are eager to see. I asked friends and family about their programming preferences. Some replied that they don’t have any favorites, while the other replies are listed below:
•    Walking Dead for me!
•    Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder, Dancing with the Stars, and about 10 others.
•    Fast N Loud.
•    Big Bang Theory! I love some witty nerds!
•    How to Get Away with Murder and Grey’s Anatomy.
•    We try not to miss Scandal and Madam Secretary. Looking forward to the new shows Quantico and Blood & Oil. They both look like they will be good ones.
•    NCIS. I cannot miss…. Classic story of right and wrong with the classic white knight. Makes us think for 60 minutes that the good guy wins.
•    Scandal!
•    Football.
•    I like to watch The Blacklist, The Good Wife and Madam Secretary! I also like Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones, great winter programs.
•    Grey’s Anatomy, all three NCIS shows, and Doctor Who.
•    I love Dancing with the Stars and always try to see Antiques Road Show. I look forward to watching the World Series. Saturday morning quilt shows are also inspiring.
•    I rarely watch TV, but on Friday night, I like to watch Country Family Reunion on RFD TV;  many times, it is a rerun, but it is always a bunch of OLD country singers – Bill Anderson, John Conlee, etc.
•    Grey’s Anatomy comes on in the fall, and it’s my guilty pleasure.
•    My favorite programs are The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, The Good Wife, Madam Secretary, and the three NCIS shows. I also like PBS’s Downton Abbey which airs in January.

In a couple of weeks, my TV viewing will be fairly predictable: by then, I’ll know which programs I like. Jack Paar said, “I have never seen a bad television program, because I refuse to.  God gave me a mind and a wrist that turns things off” (http://www.quotegarden.com/television.html). And, some nights, tuning out will be my choice.
