North Butler Fall Festival a huge success

Scores of parents and children filled the halls of North Butler Elementary last night, Friday, November 21, as the school hosted its annual fall festival.  In the planning stages since at least the beginning of the school year, the festival is organized by and serves as the primary fundraiser for the North Butler Elementary (N.B.E.) Parent-Teacher Organization (P.T.O.).

"You can't find a better P.T.O. with their involvement at the school," said Principal Josh Belcher, who took over at the helm of the school this year.

The event featured the typical festival fare with face painting, a cake walk, plenty of food, auction items, multiple games, family Christmas photos, as well as many other events.  A crowd favorite was the "Build A Monster" room, which allowed children to follow a step-by-step process to create their own stuffed "monster."

North Butler P.T.O. president Malinda Taylor was pleased with the turn-out, especially since the festival was moved a littler later in the year to avoid potential scheduling conflicts.  Taylor said the festival started at around noon on Friday with classes rotating through selected festival activities.  The after-school session ran 4 to 6:30 p.m.

"It takes a lot of work, planning and the support of many volunteers to make the festival a success," said Taylor.  "We had over 20 parent volunteers and over 30 volunteers from the Butler County High School N. J. R. O. T. C.  program."

Funds raised by the P.T.O. Fall Festival are used in various ways to support the school and supplement classroom instruction.

"I"m overwhelmed with parental involvement at North Butler and their willingness to help this community and school," said Belcher.  "Everyone was willing to step in, help the school and make sure all the kids had a joyful experience."
