Murzie K. Givens, 89 of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday February 16, 2012 in Morgantown, Ky. She was born August 18, 1922, in Muhlenberg County, to Milam and Inis Jenkins Porter and was married to Shirley Harley Givens for 62 years until his death in 2001.

She was a retired cook, having worked at Lake Malone Inn in Dumnor, Ky and Hillside Restaurant in Morgantown, Ky and substitute cook at Third District Elementary School in Huntsville, Ky. She was a member of Huntsville Missionary Baptist Church. Murzie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Harley Eugene Givens and granddaughter Rebecca Susan Givens, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Murzie Porter Givens is survived by her son Randy Shirley Givens (Judy) of Salem, Indiana and daughter Diana Hammers (Mike) of Morgantown, Ky; 6 grandchildren Nancy Kathrine Schopper, Rhonda Michelle Shields and Randall Jeremy (Kia) Givens all of Salem, Indiana; Derek Hammers (Kristin), Margaret Moore (Woody)of Morgantown, Ky. and Marybeth Hunt (Derrick) of Bowling Green, Ky.; 9 great grandchildren Robert Shields, Rachel Shields, Christian Schopper, Coley Heck of Salem, Indiana, Lillie Moore,Will Moore and David Hammers, Isabella and Olivia Hunt all of Morgantown, Ky; 4 great great grandchildren Kayleigh, Aiden, Abie Shields and Kyla Heck all of Salem, IN; 1 brother J.P. Porter of Penrod, Ky; 2 sisters Ara Nell King of Belton, Ky and Julia Jones of Kingsland, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday February 18, 2012 at 1:00pm with Bro. Steve Rutherford and Bro. David Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in the Mt Zion Cemetery in Quality, Ky. Visitation Friday Feb. 17, 2012 3:00pm - 8:00pm and Sat. 8:00am until funeral time at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
