MPD Recovers Stolen Hearse and Appliances

On Monday, July 7, 2014, a Cadillac hearse that had been reported stolen to the Bowling Green Police Department was located behind Jumpin’Jacks by Officer James Embry.  After checking through the computer, Officer Embry discovered the hearse has been reported stolen from Cone Funeral home in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
IGA Express Shell on West G.L. Smith Street in Morgantown had surveillance video of two subjects getting gas on Sunday, July 6, 2014.  After further investigation, it was discovered that Billy Clark (a.k.a. Billy Costello) age 28, of Morgantown and Jeffery Hilliker age 53, also of Morgantown, were charged with receiving stolen property over $10,000.  A third person –name and age unavailable- was arrested by the Butler County Sheriff’s Department for his participation in this incident. 
The Butler County Sheriff’s Department also assisted with this investigation.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, Officer Denny Deweese received a complaint in regards to stolen appliances from a parking lot in the 100 block of North Tyler Street.  Officer Deweese went to StarTek Recycling to see if the appliances had in fact been sold to the business as scrap.  Officer Deweese discovered that the appliances had in fact been sold to Star Tek Recycling by Anthony Queen of Bowling Green.  The appliances were identified by the owner Jerry Howard and returned to him. Charges are pending.
