Morgantown Police Department: Pursuit leads to two arrests

Morgantown Police Officer James Embry encountered a vehicle on Veteran’s Way with one tail light on Saturday night, March 7th. Officer Embry attempted to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Veteran’s Way and Helm Lane.  The vehicle disregarded Officer Embry’s signal to stop and continued on Helm Lane, to South Tyler and eventually onto South Main Street where the vehicle continued south and out of the city limits.  While traveling on U.S. 231/Bowling Green Road, speeds reached in excess of 90mph.  After the vehicle turned off of U.S. 231/Bowling Green Road, he eventually travelled to Clifty Hollow Road where Officer Embry was able to safely push the vehicle being persued off the road with his vehicle.  Before being apprehended, RIVER LAWRENCE intentionally backed his vehicle into Officer Embry’s vehicle.  Officer Embry then took LAWRENCE and his passenger, Cassie Davis, into custody without incident.  Officer Embry, LAWRENCE and DAVIS were not injured during this incident and there was minor damage to the front of Officer’s vehicle.
LAWRENCE was charged with D.U.I. 1st, Wanton Endangerment 1st, No Tail Lamps, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Disregarding Stop Sign, and Possession of Marijuana.  Criminal Mischief 1st and other traffic charges against LAWRENCE are pending.  DAVIS was charged with Alcohol Intoxication, Public Intoxication (drugs) and Disorderly Conduct.  Both were lodged in the Butler County Jail.  The Kentucky State Police also assisted.
