Morgantown Care and Rehab Center holds Annual Volunteer Celebration

A celevration of important volunteers.

Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center recently held its annual Volunteer recognition awards dinner at the Gasper River Association Building in Morgantown.

Phyllis Ray and Shirley Allen

MCRC has been a cornerstone of health care in Butler County since the early 1970's and the Facility boasts 122 beds with 16 private rooms. The Center also is one of a select few that have acquired a five star rating from The Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Under the guidance of an enthusiastic Shirley Allen, Director of Volunteer Services, the Center has close to 200 volunteers ranging in age from nine years old to over eighty years in age.

Thursday night’s event was the Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration for these remarkable volunteers or as Shirley calls them “Some of our most important people.” Each volunteer received a gift from the Center and, depending on how many hours they volunteered, both a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal and a Presidential letter.

Along with each volunteer being honored Shirley also announced a historic first for the volunteer program that for 2013 there were not one but two volunteers of the year.

Volunteer of the Year Iris Moore

The volunteers of the year were Iris Moore and Barnett’s Lick Baptist Church.

The event was catered by Theresa of Gone Fishin and featured top of the line Butler County Pork. MCRC is located at 206 South Warren Street in Morgantown.
