Morgantown, Butler County proclaimed "Law Enforcement Community"

On Wednesday afternoon, September 23, the city of Morgantown and Butler County were proclaimed a “Law Enforcement Community” by Mayor Billy Phelps, Judge-Executive David Fields, Commonwealth Attorney Tim Coleman and Butler County Attorney Richard Deye. 
The group, including local elected officials and several individuals from law enforcement and the community, gathered to witness the proclamation signing on the steps of the Butler County Courthouse. 

The proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, the City of Morgantown and Butler County wishes to promote all LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Morgantown and Butler County recognizes the many sacrifices given by all Law Enforcement Officers of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
WHEREAS, the City of Morgantown and Butler County desires to create a community where the United States Constitution and Kentucky Law is honored and enforced
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement Officers in the City of Morgantown and Butler County are honored positions and have officers of highest integrity
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the City of Morgantown and Butler County in recognition of the outstanding service to the citizens of this community and their impact on the City and County; and devotion to the City of Morgantown and Butler County, recognizes that we as Citizens there of “SUPPORT ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS” this the 23rd day of September, 2015.


Mayor Phelps thanked the officers for all they do for the citizens of Morgantown and Butler County.  Phelps, retired Morgantown Chief of Police, joked that now he is mayor but at heart he is always a cop.
Judge Fields also thanked the officers for the commitment and sacrifices.
