Meet the Team Night for B.C.H. S. Basketball

The Butler County High School basketball program held its annual Meet the Team Night on Friday, November 20, at the B.C.H.S.  A nice crowd turned out to get their first look at both the Bears' and Lady Bears' basketball squads for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

The event first featured the introduction of the B.C.H.S. cheerleaders, which was done by cheer coach Shelby Baseheart. Assistant coaches are Katie Flener and Lisa Rhoades.

Next, the Lady Bears were introduced by head coach Brian Bivens, who first introduced the lone senior on the squad - Callie Cardwell.

Assistant Coach Steve McLean introduced the Bears and like the Lady Bears the boys have only one senior Austin Nave.

 Both teams then went through several drills, including layups, jump shots, 3-on-3, 3-on-2, rebounding, and ball handling.

The night was highlighted by a 3-point shooting contest by both teams. Allie Easley won the girl's contest by making 11 from behind the arc in one minute and Rex Henderson won the boy's contest by making 12.

Rex then defeated Allie in the finale of the long distance shoot-out.

Both coach Calvin Dockery and coach Bivens took to the microphone to address the fans, expressing their excitement about the upcoming season.

The boys scrimmaged on Saturday, November 21 at Union County.

Coach Bivens expressed to the crowd how pleased he was with the Lady Bears scrimmage they had on Thursday, November 19, at Lyon County.  The Lady Bears will host Hart County next Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. for their final preseason scrimmage. The Bears will have their last scrimmage at Greenwood on Wednesday morning, November 25, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
