Members and guests of the monthly chamber luncheon on Thursday were introduced to the new chaplain of Morgantown Care and Rehab by Shirley Allen, Director of Volunteer Services.  Rev. Derek Cain started his position as full time chaplain in January. He replaces Bro. Jim McDaniel who serves as pastor of Richland Baptist in south Butler.

Chaplain Derek, a native of the Somerset area, is also the current pastor of Salem Baptist Church in the Logansport community. He attended Berea College and later attended the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky in Georgetown. He has served as pastor of Salem since October of 2011.

It was while scrolling through the Signature company website and helping a fellow minister searching for a chaplain position, that Chaplain Derek learned of the open chaplain position in Morgantown.

“For me and for my church at Salem, it feels like an extension of my ministry,” said Chaplain Derek. He encourages those wishing to volunteer to contact Allen at the facility for information.
