Mary "Toppie" Evans

Mary Talmage "Toppie" Evans,72, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012, surrounded by her family at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky. Topppie was born October 1, 1940 to the late William Talmage "Doc" Hampton and Eunice Flowers Hampton. She married Hugh Carroll Evans May 18, 1958 and had five children- Linda Carol, Lisa Anne, Robert Wayne "Bobby", William Gregory "Greg" and Shannon Kay. Toppie worked until she retired from the United States Postal Service in Morgantown, Kentucky. She was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church, where she played piano and taught music to countless children who attended bible school over the years. Mary "Toppie" Evans is survived by her husband of 54 years, Hugh Carroll Evans of Morgantown, Ky.; children Linda Staples and husband Steve of Morgantown, Ky., Lisa Goldsmith and husband Phil of Tupelo, Mississippi, Bobby Evans and wife Vanessa of Morgantown, Ky., Greg Evans and wife Stacie of Morgantown, Ky., and Shannon Massey and husband Dale of Morgantown, Ky.; grandchildren Amanda Logsdon, Pamela Porter husband Todd, Eric Goldsmith, Michael Morris wife Ashley, Cyle Morris, Cody Phelps, Zeb Pendley and Zoie Pendley; great grandchildren Stephen Porter, Sam Porter and Cameron Porter, Ethan Morris, Alyssa Morris and Lee Logsdon.
Funeral services will be held at the Salem Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 2:00pm with Bro. Derek Cain officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Tuesday visitation is from 12:00pm until funeral time at 2:00pm at the Salem Baptist Church.
