Marjorie Givens Maddox

Marjorie Givens Maddox, 86, of  Louisville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at her residence in Louisville after brief illness. Marjorie was born September 13, 1927 in the community of Quality in Butler County, to the late Ross and Eliza Hope Givens. Mrs. Maddox graduated from Butler County High School in 1945.  She received a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Education from Bowling Green College of Commerce of the Bowling Green University in 1952, and a Master of Arts Degree in education at Western Kentucky State College  in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1953.  Mrs .Maddox was a teacher for 32 years and retired from the Jefferson County Public School system.  She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, a Kentucky Colonel and an Eastern Star. In 1960 she joined St. Matthews Baptist Church in Louisville where she was also a member of the Helping Hands and the Golden Circle.
Mrs. Maddox is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Albert Maddox and two nephews, Waymon and Randy McKinney.
 
She  is survived one sister; Doris Givens McKinney of Bowling Green, one brother Rodney Givens and wife Karen Lee of Quality, two nephews; Kerry McKinney and wife Lesia of Morgantown, Joseph Ross Givens and wife Debbie of Morgantown a niece Kyllie Doughty and husband Tim of Woodbury/ and several great nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Jim Ivey officiating . Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery.   Visitation will be Wednesday,  July 16, 2014 from 9:00am til time of service.
