Lodema Botts

Lodema Botts, 84, Morgantown, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Inc. of Bowling Green following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born Oct. 15, 1929, in Casey, she was the daughter of the late Arlie and Easter (Snodgrass) Taylor. A graduate of Butler County High School, she attended Western Kentucky Teachers College and taught at two Butler County one-room schools: Howard and Shallow Ford. She moved with her family to northwest Indiana and worked at General American for several years. Lodema, her husband and son returned to Butler County in 1972. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary to the V.F.W. where she and her husband were known for their exceptional dancing skills. She also served for many years on the Butler County Public Library Board. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Botts; her parents; and one brother, V.L. Taylor.
Survivors include one son, David Botts, Morgantown; one brother, Harvey (H.C.) Taylor, Aberdeen; one niece, Deborah Givens (Roger), Morgantown; one great-niece, Beth Hathaway (Andy), and one great-great-nephew, Grady, all of Independence; and special friends, Lynn Ingram, Morgantown, and Imogene Duke, Brooklyn.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Butler County Public Library, P.O. Box 247, Morgantown, KY 42261.
Services will be at the Jones Funeral Chapel Saturday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Roger Taylor presiding. Burial will be in the Snodgrass Cemetery.
