Jakes' Day 2015

A total of 106 young anglers took part in the Annual Butler County Longbeard's Jakes Day event on Saturday at the Haynes Family property in the Leonard Oak community of Butler County. Each angler paid $15, was provided lunch and got to keep all the fish they caught.


 According to organizers, the lake was stocked with approximately 800 pounds of fish - several pounds of which were caught.  Prizes were given for catching an albino catfish, the black catfish and two turtles were caught.Prizes were given for all the speciality fish and turtles.  Also, 25 fishing poles and two Genesis bows were given away.

Garrett Embry won the Marlin .22 caliber rifle.  All proceeds from the sale of the rifle will benefit the Jakes Day event in 2015. 


 "The weather cooperated with us and we are going to return to the Haynes family property next year," said Deniece Hawkins, one of the organizers.   "Also thanks for everyone who helps, donates items, and supports us each year."
