Hot Rods Ownership Finalizes Purchase of Louisville Bats

Bowling Green, Ky. – The Bowling Green Hot Rods (Class-A/Tampa Bay Rays) formally welcomed a new sister team to the fold on Wednesday afternoon with Manhattan Capital Sports Acquisition’s formal acquisition of the Louisville Bats (Triple-A/Cincinnati Reds). The two ballparks are separated by just 113 miles, and it further enhances the commitment of Manhattan Capital to the state of Kentucky.

“We are very excited to complete this sale and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with the Louisville community and especially with the dedicated fans of this very successful baseball team,” said Stuart Katzoff. “We have over the past few months built a strong working and personal relationship with Gary Ulmer and his team and are thrilled that Gary and the key personnel of the Bats will stay on with us as we move forward. Gary will remain as President, and by doing so, will continue the legacy his family has built over the past 30 years.”

Manhattan Capital purchased the Hot Rods in December 2013, and the group now owns/operates three clubs in Minor League Baseball, with the Reno Aces (Triple-A/Arizona Diamondbacks) completing the trio. Bowling Green Ballpark has seen numerous improvements since the arrival of the MC Sports Acquisition, and folks in downtown Bowling Green will notice the construction of a brand-new playground that will be the most significant addition for the 2015 campaign.

“The purchase of the Louisville Bats further shows Stuart and Jerry’s commitment to this area, and this state as a whole,” said Hot Rods Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Adam Nuse. “We look forward to working with our new sister team to bring even more fun and greater ideas to enhance the fan experience here at Bowling Green Ballpark, not only in 2015, but for years to come.”
