Gerald Wayne Dukes

Gerald Wayne Dukes, 70, of Beechmont, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at 2:40PM at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mr. Dukes was born September 12, 1942. He was a minister and a member of Mt. Olivet Church in Butler County. Mr. Dukes was a Kentucky Colonel, and loved to fish, hunt, and golf. He worked in the coal mines at Amax Coal, and pastored several churches. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Colin Shourds; brother Billy Dukes; parents Kermit and Margie Dukes; and a nephew, Sonny Dukes.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Dukes; daughters Carolyn (Danny) Carroll, Tammy (Jason) Shourds, and Kristin (Van) Mitchell; and grandchildren Aaron McKannan, Jacob Carroll, Ben Carroll, Jonathon McKannan, Nick Carroll, Leah Carroll, Mathew Carroll, Kerrigan Shourds, Kylie Shourds, Kendalyn Shourds, Abigail Mitchell, Samuel Mitchell, Jonah Mitchell, Benjamin Mitchell, Jamal Mitchell, and Daniel Mitchell.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00AM at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Drakesboro, with Rev. Travis Fox officiating, assisted by Rev. Greg Brooks and Rev. Scott Casebier. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Mr. Dukes will lie in state at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday after 9:00AM.
