Freeman named new principal of Butler County Middle School

Tim Freeman, new principal at Butler County Middle School

The Butler County Middle School Site-Based Decision Making Council voted unanimously earlier today - Thursday, July 23 - to select Tim Freeman as the school's new principal.  Freeman, who has been the school's assistant principal for the past three years, replaces Robert Tuck, who took a position as the middle/high school instructional supervisor for the district.
Superintendent Scott Howard made the official announcement after the council voted to hire Freeman at a called meeting in the school's media center.  Several teachers were in attendance.
"Mr. Freeman brings a unique skill set to administration; he is level headed and has strong organizational skills," said Howard.  "I think he'll do a great job as principal at Butler County Middle School."
In addition to three years as assistant principal at B.C.M.S., Freeman, 34, holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration with a minor in Psychology/Sociology; a Master of Arts in Education Administration and a Rank 1.  He also worked as Lead Teacher at the Butler County Alternative School.
Freeman said he is grateful for the opportunity and feels honored to have been named principal of Butler County Middle School.
"This is my fourth year here and my tenth in the district and I couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with," said Freeman.  "B.C.M.S. is moving in the right direction and I want to keep moving forward together with continued success."  Freeman cited the importance of building relationships, working together, and collaborative partnerships as key to the success of the school.
Freeman's selection as principal means the school will now be looking to hire a new assistant principal.  According to Supt. Howard, that position will likely be posted on Monday, July 27.  All certified positions are supposed to be posted for 30 days but Howard said he plans to ask the Kentucky Department of Education for a waiver of that requirement since the start of school is only two weeks away.  The first day for students is Thursday, August 6.
The B.C.M.S. Site-Based Council consists of Sherlyn Bratcher (teacher), Samantha Camp (parent), Latisha Cardwell (teacher), John Embry (teacher), and Sandra Gill (parent).  Superintendent Scott Howard chaired the principal selection committee.
