Fazel named assistant principal at B.C.M.S.

Pam Fazel, B.C.M.S. Assistant Principal

Pam Fazel, a veteran educator, has been named assistant principal at Butler County Middle School.  The hiring was announced by Principal Tim Freeman just prior to the start of the school year.  Fazel's hiring completes a summer of transition for the middle school as Fazel takes over as assistant principal for Freeman, who was hired as principal after Robert Tuck moved to Central Office as a middle/high school instructional supervisor.  Also, at the middle school, Sherlyn Bratcher was hired earlier this summer as the new guidance counselor, replacing Dr. Ron Harpe, who retired.
With 23 years of teaching experience, almost all at Butler County Middle, Fazel knows the school inside and out and appears ready for her new role as assistant principal.
"My plans were always to teach high school science. When I moved here in 1992 I began teaching at B.C.H.S in the Alternative Program. I taught there for one year with one of the most talented and amazing persons I have ever known, Mr. Ed Norman, who became a great friend. He passed away last year at a very young age but I will always remember the lessons we shared," said Fazel.
Mr. Larry Watkins was the principal at B.C.M.S. and the next year (1993-94) he had an opening in science at B.C.M.S.  I told him I had not planned to teach middle school and he told me to try it for one year and if I did not like it he would understand. Last year was my 23rd year of teaching and my 22nd at B.C.M.S. Needless to say, middle school is my love."
Fazel graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Morehead State University in 1989; a Master's Degree in Education from Western Kentucky University in 1996; and a Rank I in Administration from Western Kentucky University in 1998.
Fazel describes her attraction to the middle school setting as her "calling."
"One year is all it took for me to know that I had found my calling. I love middle school students and everything about the middle school concept. We are committed to making developmentally appropriate decisions for our students and to continually revisit the programs in place to ensure that we are meeting the needs of these very special young people," said Fazel.   "I am honored to be the assistant principal at B.C.M.S. and I will do my best to love these children as if they are my own."

"We are very excited to have Pam Fazel as the assistant principal at Butler County Middle School," said B.C.M.S. Principal Tim Freeman.  "Mrs. Fazel has a lot of experience in the classroom and in the area of curriculum.  B.C.M..S is very fortunate to have someone with her experience, ties to the community, and knowledge of education as an administrator.  Mrs. Fazel and I have had a great working relationship in the past and I am excited for our students."
