Fatal Accident On Brownsville Road

A Breckinridge County man died Sunday in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Butler County.
According to Deputy Trey Flener of the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Zachery Medley, 20, of Breckinridge County, was travelling west on Highway 70-Brownsville Road in a blue Chevy S-10, when he crossed into the opposite lane and struck another vehicle head-on. The other vehicle, a Chevrolet SUV, was driven by Mark Dockery, 39, of Butler County.
Reports state that Medley’s vehicle caught fire after the crash, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Marty Jones. Medley’s remains have been sent for an autopsy to determine if his death resulted from injuries sustained in the accident, or was caused by the ensuing fire.
Mark Dockery was partially ejected from his vehicle, and was life-flighted from the Belmont Church to Vanderbilt University Hospital. Dockery is listed in stable condition. Another passenger in the vehicle, Robert Dockery, 21, was transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green where he was treated and released.
The accident occurred in the 1400 block of Brownsville Road, and was the second fatal accident in the same location this year. Janice Embry, 57, of Morgantown, was killed roughly the same location on May 29th in a two-vehicle accident.
Responding to the accident were the Fourth District VFD, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, the Butler County Rescue Squad, Butler County EMS, Fifth District Fire Department, and the PHI Air Evac Life Team (Life-Flight).
