Catherine Carolyn Deweese

Catherine Carolyn DeWeese, 93, of Morgantown, Kentucky went to her eternal reward on July 20, 2013, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.  She was born in Cairo, Illinois on February 20, 1921, to the late Ray E. Paul DeWeese, a native of Butler County, KY and Catherine Mary Coen DeWeese of Sheffield, England. Most of her life was spent in northern Illinois where she followed a business career and engaged in volunteerism during her leisure.

Following her retirement and the death of her parents, she and her brother Raymond Paul DeWeese, also retired, moved to Butler County to research the background of their father. In addition to her research, she was actively involved in both church and community. In 1996 she and her brother Raymond Paul, were named the Rural Development Association Leaders of the Year for their work in the church and community. She was a member of the Butler County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Butler County Genealogical and Historical Society, the Big Bend Rural Development Society, the Martha and Mary Guild of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and the Society of the Descendents of the Veterans of Valley Forge of Valley Forge, PA.

Catherine Carolyn DeWeese is survived by her niece, Mary Lynn DeWeese of Middleton, Wisconsis; three grand nephews; one great-grand nephew; and many cousins and many special friends in Butler County and beyond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bernard John and Raymond Paul DeWeese, sister-in-law Kathryn DeWeese, and a nephew, Richard M. Deweese.

For those persons who wish to make an offering rather than send flowers, such offerings will be sent to the "St. Vincent DePaul Society Committee," a charitable organization, whose address is St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, P.O. Box 127 Fordsville, Kentucky 42343. 

Visitation will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with prayer service at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Morgantown, KY on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. with the Father Kalombo officiating.
