Butler JV 22-14 over Edmonson; Freshmen Bears fall to Apollo

The Bears JV football team opened up with a 22-14 come from behind win over Edmonson Co. JV. The Bears JV squad is composed almost entirely with sophomores and freshman. Again, the purpose of the JV and the Freshman football squads are to get as many reps and game like situations as possible on Monday and Thursday nights.


       The Bears JV came from behind in each quarter, trailing 6-0, 14-6 at stages of the game. With the Bears trailing 14-6, and 7 minutes left in the game, the JV Bears dominated the fourth quarter of play. Earlier touchdown passes from Brenden Shanklin to sophomores Daltyn Havens, and Houston Hampton on catch and runs for scores.
         The sophomore defensive unit stepped in the fourth quarter  with 3 minutes left to play with the score tied at 14 -14; Patton Allen hit and forced a EC fumble, the Bears recovered. Shanklin and Co. led the JV Bears on a 30 yard drive, and scored the winning touchdown on a three yard run by Shanklin on the keeper to get the 22-14 win.


        The JV squad is as follows: Noah Beasley, Andrew Henry, Tanner Herrara, Randall Washer, Ryan Wills, Trevor Spradlin, Jacob Rickard, AJ Markham, Christian McKee, Brenden Shanklin, Daltyn Havens, Houston Hampton, Patton Allen, and the full Freshman squad as well.  The JV returns to action at home vs Warren Central JV, Monday Aug. 31. Kickoff is at 6pm at BCHS football field.

Freshmen fall to Apollo

The BCHS freshman football team opened their season to a bigger, faster, stronger Owensboro Apollo team this past Thursday night. Apollo won by the score of 34-0. The BCHS freshman squad has sixteen young men who are working daily to get better; and learn the meaning of playing at full speed.
The Freshman Bears will play each Thursday, game time kickoff is always at 6pm.

The BC Bears Freshman squad consists of the following: Alex Rich, Dwayne Daniels, Keaton Diaz, Aaron Bratcher, Jordan Gibson, Josh Hall, Hayden Durbin, Tyler Yates, Dawson Carroll, Michael Elmore, Skylar Dockery, Logan Inglis, Logan Binion, Cooper Maxfield, Kane Neighbors, Kolby Higgs.
The Freshman Bears are at home again next week, and will face the Logan Co. Freshman on Thursday, Sept. 3. Again that is a HOME game with a 6pm kickoff.
