Butler County Driver’s License office is Recongized by Statewide Organ Donation Awareness Program

Butler County’s Driver’s License office has been presented a large tin of “Thank You” gourmet popcorn from the Trust For Life, for their exceptional participation in the states organ donor awareness program during National Donate Life Month.
“Your Circuit Court Clerk’s office has shown incredible initiative in their efforts to support this program and help save lives.  Without their enthusiasm and hard work, thousands of Kentuckians would not know about the life saving mission of organ donation,” explains Trust For Life Executive Directo, Shelley Snyder.  “The popcorn is a fun way to show how much we appreciate the important work they do every day in the Circuit Clerk’s office.” This year a record 72 offices received popcorn this year.
The Trust For Life is a separate, 501C3 non-profit organization decicated to increasing awareness about organ donation to help save lives.  The organization was created by the Circuit Clerk’s in 1992.  “The trust answers questions, overcomes myths, and educates the public about the crucial nedd for more registered donors in Kentucky,” explains Melissa Cardwell, Bulter Circuit Court Clerk.  Curently 44% of Kentucky residents are registered donors.  In comparison, over 60% of residents in Ohio & Indiana are registered to save lives.  “Public attention to this cause is essentlal.  From presentations in schools and civic clubs, to statewide PR campaigns, the Circuit Clerks’ Trust For Life aids patients in need of transplant,” says Synder.
“The Trust For Life’s mission is easy to stand behind, as we all know someone who has been touched by the gift of life.  It is a honor to educate the public on the importance of organ donation through the dollars we collect in the Driver’s License office.  We know it is the law that we ask for the dollar, but we do it because the impact each dollar makes in the community is so significant,” excplains Cardwell.  “We want to keep up this momentum.  We will continue to help our community become registered organ donors and raise awareness so more lives can be saved through the miracle of transplantion.”
Everyone can register as a donor by going online www.donatelifeky.org if you would like to learn more about the Trust, or make a tax-deductible contribution, go to www.trustforlife.org or call 1-866-945-5433
