Boys and Girls Club featured at Chamber Luncheon

Jeremiah Lee and Leigh, Club members

The  Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce held their monthly luncheon on Thursday.  The meal was catered by Up In Smoke and sponsored by Morgantown-Butler County Chamber of Commerce, White Real Estate and Auction, and McDonald’s.
According to Chamber President James Runion the weather was perfect for the Catfish Festival and they were able to give $7,000 to area non-profit organizations for their work during the festival.  The Chamber netted a little over $20,000 from the festival.
The Chamber is in the process of creating a new website.  Runion encouraged anyone with suggestions for the website to contact the Chamber.

Bruce White, Boys and Girls Club Director.
The Boys and Girls Club of Butler County Director Bruce White was the guest speaker.  Dustin Barnett, instructor, and club members Hayden Hodge, Leigh Phelps, and Jeremiah Lee Sanders were also in attendance.  White thanked the community for their support of the club.
“We have many volunteers and organizations that support the Club, just to mention a few like the Butler County Library, the Butler County High School NJROTC program, WarrenRECC, Red Cross, and local law enforcement have made major impacts at the Club,” said White.  “Forty-three of our members attended Aberdeen Baptist Church VBS, we made a trip to the Louisville Zoo, and had an all day program featuring Kids on the Block, Red Cross, and Butler County author Linda Hawkins this summer.”
According to White the Club has 150 members and these children are our future.  “They need people encouraging them, we have to break the mindset of, “we never had anything, we are not going to have anything,” said White.
The Club is always in need of volunteers; contact Bruce White for more information.
