The body of a Bowling Green woman was recovered from the Green River today.

According to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD), around 12:45 p.m. this afternoon, the OCSD responded to an area on the Green River, near the Rochester Lock and Dam, about a possible drowning victim found floating in the water.

The OCSD, Ohio County EMA, Beaver Dam and Hartford Fire Departments were able to remove the body from the water.

The victim was identified as Melissa S. Trent, 39, of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Officers of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) have been investigating a boating accident that occurred on April 21 on the Barren River at the Green Castle Dam. The KDFWR was able to help the OCSD identify the drowning victim.
