Bluegrass Cellular Accepting Submissions for Annual DRIVE NOW. TEXT L8R. PSA Contest

Elizabethtown, KY (Jan. 30, 2015) – Bluegrass Cellular is seeking local students’ help to put an end to texting while driving in central Kentucky with its annual DRIVE NOW. TEXT L8R. PSA contest. The contest, open to both middle and high school students living in Bluegrass’s home service area, challenges students to produce short television public service announcements (PSAs) that discourage others from texting while driving.

“Most people will tell you that texting while driving is dangerous. Yet statistics show that we continue to do it, and with deadly consequences,” said Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular. “This means we need to find new ways of reaching drivers and their passengers if we want to make a lasting change. That’s what we aim to achieve with our annual PSA contest by giving students the chance to add their unique voices to the cause.”

Students have from now until Friday, April 24, 2015, to submit their videos. Once submitted, the PSAs will be reviewed and scored by an expert panel of judges that includes Barry Nothstine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Bluegrass Cellular; David Vawter, Chief Creative Officer of Doe-Anderson, a Louisville-based advertising agency; and Trooper Jeff Gregory, Public Affairs Officer for the Kentucky State Police. A portion of the final score will also come from a community vote, which Bluegrass Cellular will host via social media.

The winning PSA, to be announced in May 2015, will air on local television and in Bluegrass Cellular stores throughout the month of May. The winning student or team of students will receive $1,000, as well as the opportunity to shadow the WBKO newsroom in Bowling Green, or Doe-Anderson – a Louisville-based advertising agency – depending on their interests.
