Ben Thomas Brown

Ben Thomas Brown, 82,  of Quality, Ky. left this earthly home to be with the Lord Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. Mr. Brown was born October 17, 1930 in Butler County, to the late George William and Ora Webster Brown.  He was an oil field worker, but most of all a farmer. Mr. Brown was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and a former member of the Butler County Board of Education. He loved his family and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother George William Brown Jr., special aunt and uncle Bennie and Cordie Drake Webster.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Westerfield Brown of Quality; three sons James "Tommy" Brown and wife Denise of Quality, Charles Allen Brown and wife Debbie of Quality, William Davie "Weedie" Brown of Rochester; one daughter Roberta Brown Gardner and husband Dwight of Morgantown; six grandchildren Rebecca Gardner Tyree and husband Chad of Quality, Jennifer Gardner of Bowling Green, Andrea Brown Hawkins and husband Andrew of Owensboro, Elizabeth Brown of Morgantown, Benjamin Brown of Rochester, Martin Alexander Brown of Quality; two step-grandchildren Steven Bratcher and wife Sasheen of Richmond, VA., Laura Bratcher of Bowling Green; three great-grandchildren Emily Kathryn Tyree, Duncan Thomas Tyree and Gavin Thomas Hawkins; two brothers-in-law James Westerfield of Murfreesboro, TN., Tom Westerfield and wife Sandy of Cincinnati, OH.; sister-in-law Sonia Stewart of Lexington, KY., special cousin Ruth Ragland and husband Latney of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Raleigh Blancett, Bro. Jimmy McIntosh, and Bro. Don Piper officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.  Expressions of sympathy can be made to:  Mt Olivet Baptist Building Fund c/o Keith Vincent- 7188 Huntsville-Quality Rd.
