Bears, Cougars set to tangle at Leitchfield

Familiar rivals will take to the field tomorrow night as the Butler County Bears will travel to Leitchfield to face the Grayson County Cougars on homecoming night.  The Bears (2-1) are coming off a 48-0 win against Breckinridge last week.  Meanwhile, the Cougars (3-1) squeaked out a 27-26 win against Daviess County.

Butler County coach Ryan Emmick is expecting a solid Grayson County team on Friday night.

"Grayson County is a well-coached football team with an excellent line and quarterback.  Talon Gary leads their veer offense and is very adept at running the veer and makes excellent reads.  He has a great line in front of him and they play a very physical style of football," said Emmick.

The coach believes eliminating mental mistakes will be essential  for his team to be successful.

"We have to concentrate on our reads and ensure we are not making mental mistakes.  The mental approach to this game will be an important aspect as we have to come in mentally focused and sharp in order to not make mistakes," said Emmick.

According to Coach Emmick, Grayson is a 3-4 team defensively that gives multiple fronts and coverage looks.  "Grayson's front 7 are very physical and they do a very good job in coverage.  We must focus on our individual assignments and not get caught up in the big play mentality," added Emmick.

Coach Emmick said the Bears are looking forward to the contest and predicts a lively football environment.

"Overall this should be a fun game to be a part of.  It is going to be a great atmosphere in Leitchfield with a great crowd on their homecoming night," said Emmick.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.  The game will be aired live on The New Q - WLBQ 101.5 FM.  John Embry (play-by-play), Cody Donaldson (stats and commentary), Josh Scott (color commentary) will have the call.  The Morgantown Bank & Trust Pregame Show will begin at 6:30 p.m.
