Back to School 2015-16: Morgantown Elementary
Students, Parents, and Community Members:
Each new school year brings opportunities; opportunities for academic growth but also opportunities for growth in all areas of development. Although children must be knowledgeable in Math, Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies, they must also be healthy, engaged, responsible, and caring people. The administration, faculty, and staff of Morgantown Elementary are excited to bring to our students, families, and community The Leader in Me. The faculty and staff have recently completed several days of training and are presently working with local business and industry leaders in order to begin the process of working toward Morgantown Elementary being Butler County’s first Leader in Me Lighthouse School.
The Leader in Me provides our school with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development. As each child discovers and develops his/her unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education and their self-confidence, their responsibility, and their initiative grows. The children quickly understand the benefits of different gifts and talents; they learn to listen to new ideas, work together to achieve results, and motivate one another to be the best. I look forward to sharing these new opportunities with all of our students and parents. Together, we will watch each and every child grow throughout the year.
This past year Morgantown Elementary said good bye to two very special members of the MES family. Mrs. Teri Curry, Fifth Grade Teacher retired to spend more time with her family and grandchildren and longtime school secretary Mrs. Karen Deye retired to spend more time with her family and grandchildren as well. We wish these two ladies many days of happiness as they share their new found time with their beautiful grandchildren.
We are excited to welcome to the Morgantown Elementary family several new faculty and staff members. Joining our Paraeducator team are several new faces: Mrs. DeDe Dockery, Mrs. Ellen Braesomle, Ms. Michelle Tutko, Mrs. LeeAnn Hudnall, and Mrs. Holly Neighbors. We also welcomed some new teaching staff members; teaching Third Grade is Mrs. Katie Wilson, teaching Special Education is Ms. Taylor Hill, and teaching music is Mr. Ryan Himes.
Our custodial staff along with special help from the men of Andrea’s Mission, have spent countless hours cleaning, waxing, and shining the floors to get ready for this new school year. Many thanks goes to Mr. Carlton Dockery, Mrs. Judy Blanton, Mr. Steven Shepherd, and Mrs. Sherry Morris for their countless hours working to make our school look the best it can for our students.
We would also like to encourage our parents and community members to visit the Morgantown Elementary website often at www.mespatriots.com for all the latest information and events happening at MES. You can also follow us on Twitter: @mes_patriots and like us on our Facebook page.
We look forward to a wonderful year at Morgantown Elementary School. We know that it will be a year full of exciting, new, and wonderful learning experiences as we strive to encourage your child to reach his or her full potential as they develop their leadership skills through Leader in Me and eventually find their voice.
Sincerely,
Mr. J. Chad Flener, Principal
Mrs. Alicia McKinney, Assistant Principal
