Arts Guild to host holiday event Saturday

This Saturday, December 6th. at 5 p.m., the Butler County Arts Guild (B.C.A.G.) will be hosting their Celebrations of Lights & Sounds event at the Community Mural in downtown Morgantown.  The event will feature the lighting of the trees and unveiling of new holiday art from talented local artist Gail Smrtic.  The event will also feature performances by members of the Butler County High School Band, B.C.H.S. Choir and a special performance by The Dance Academy.  All are invited to attend.

B.C.A.G. President Josh Hampton said the guild tried to host a similar event last year but was canceled due to bad winter weather.
“We’ve got our fingers crossed that we’ll get to have the event this year.  We hope it’s an opportunity for us to get together as a community and kick off the holiday season," said Hampton.

This Saturday is full of Christmas events, starting with the 4-H Country Ham breakfast, then the Morgantown Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. and finally with the Arts Guild event at 5 p.m.
“If you’re not in the Christmas spirit after Saturday, then your wood is wet,” said Hampton. “This should be a great day in Butler County.  I hope everyone can get out, if not on Saturday, then at some point to see Gail Smrtic’s holiday art display.  It’s beautiful. We are lucky to have such talent in our community.”
