Accident Shuts Down Russellville Road

Shortly after 8:00pm on Wednesday evening Hwy. 79, Russellville Road, was shut down due to a tractor trailer accident. Kenton Hammond, 59 of Crestwood, Kentucky, was traveling southbound on Russellville Road when he attempted to miss two deer in the road.  He overcorrected and went off the right shoulder and the truck landed sideways blocking both lanes. 

Hammond, who was driving for Penske Trucking, was transported to Greenview Hospital with minor injuries.  He was hauling empty metal containers. 


Responding were Butler County EMS, Butler County Rescue Squad, Morgantown Fire Department, Second District Fire Department, Morgantown Police Officer Brian Ward, Butler County Sheriff Deputies Chris Renee, Heath West, and Justin Deweese, and the State Highway Road Department.


Motorists were detoured southbound at Richland Church Road and northbound on Hwy 626. The road reopened at 2:00am.
