8th Annual Festival of Trees

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The Butler County Chapter NSDAR has been working for over a month to ready the Friendly Furniture building into a winter wonderland with an estimated 50 decorated trees or wreaths. Local businesses, families and civic organizations have contributed to this year’s event.

The Gardners made it a family affair as they came to decorate the State Farm tree which includes ornaments made by Mrs. Gardner’s Kindergarten class at Morgantown Elementary. Pictured are Cassie, Bowen and Nellie Gardner.

The Festival will open to the public on Tuesday, December 1 and run through Sunday, December 6 with a fee of $2.00 per person, children 8 and under are free.  Viewing hours are Tuesday and Thursday from noon until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from noon until 6:00 PM. On Sunday, December 6, the festival hours will coincide with hours of the DAR Christmas Home Tour from 1:00 until 5:00 pm.
This year’s home tour includes the Kaitlin and Marcus Harrison home off Shar-o-ley from Highway 231 South and the home of Deneatra and Cody Henderson on Johnie Flener Road off Possum Hollow Rd from Highway 79 North. Along with these two homes visitors are encouraged to include a visit to the Rochester Ladies League Bazaar and tour the old Green River Bank building. Another stop should be the Silent Night, Holy Night Exhibit of over 400 nativities at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Meadowlark Drive off Logansport Road, #403. Both of these will also be open from 1:00 until 5:00 PM on Sunday the 6th.
