$5,000 Reward Offered In Farm Bureau Theft

The Butler County Farm Bureau Insurance office reported a burglary on Tuesday morning. Butler County Sheriff Scottie Ward and Morgantown Police Officer Ethan Vincent responded to the scene. Secretary Deanna Russ arrived at the office, located at 231 G.L. Smith Street, shortly before 8:00am and discovered the money bags missing.

According to Agency Manager James Runion , $550 in cash and several checks were taken.

“We have altered the customers that had written checks and paid to have stop payment on all the checks,” said Runion.

The screen on the side window had been cut, but the window was locked.  Entry into the office was made by tampering with the side door.

As a Farm Bureau member a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons committing theft and vandalism on the property. No client information was comprised.
