2015 Butler County Stockman’s Sale Kick-Off Field Day is a Huge Success

Warren Beeler discusses cattle grading with attendees at the field day

On September 26th, some of Butler County’s best livestock producers gathered at the Wayne and Mary Hatcher Farm in southern Butler County for the Stockman’s Sale Kick-Off Field Day.  The educational event featured talks and demonstrations about several aspects of cattle management and nutrition.  Sixty people attended, coming from all corners of Butler County.  There were presentations from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, The Kentucky Beef Network, and the local Stockman’s Association. Stockman’s members learned about grading cattle and cattle markets, long range wormer, forage quality, and how to participate in the 2016 Stockman’s Livestock Sale.

The Butler County Stockman’s Association is the local chapter of the Kentucky Cattleman’s Association.

The Stockman’s Association’s annual breeding stock sale is scheduled for March 12, 2016 in Morgantown.  Heifers and bulls can be consigned to the sale and consignment packets are currently available at the Butler County Extension Office for those interested in selling animals in the sale.  The annual event rotates to different livestock farms each year.
