2015 Butler County Chapter NSDAR Home Tour

 Cody and Deneatra Henderson's home.

The holiday season is upon us and the Butler County Chapter NSDAR is busy planning their annual events. One that has been going on for many years is the DAR Christmas Home Tour. The tour will be on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm with a charge of $2.00 per home, money collected at each home goes toward the chapter scholarship, veterans projects or other activities the chapter hosts. Please take the time to tour each of the homes on December 6th as well as the 8th annual Festival of Trees which will be located this year in the Friendly Furniture building.

Henderson Home
Please join Cody and Deneatra Henderson and their 4 children in celebrating the first Christmas in their new home on Johnie Flener Rd.  The home was completed in March 2015 and built by Shawn Coles of Artisan Homes on the same lot that Deneatra’s great grandfather Owen Paul Flener lived.
The entire house has beautiful views, large windows throughout the home look out over the 300 acre farm in all directions.  It has 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, includes an office with a panoramic view for Cody, and a large bonus room turned into playroom for the kids.  The exterior of the house is accented with Crab Orchard stone from Tennessee, which is also the material used to construct the functional chimney and wood burning fireplace in the Great Room. Cody was able to help lay the stone for the fireplace, which is finished inside with a custom mantle surround.  A beautiful chandelier accents the 12 foot tall coffer ceiling in the Great Room, and this room also offers excellent views.
The Henderson’s enjoy their meal times at home in a gourmet kitchen with professional appliances, soapstone countertops, and brick tile floors. To one side of the kitchen is a comfortable breakfast nook with a tray ceiling and to the other side is a formal dining room with a gas fireplace and custom mantle.  The master bedroom features 12 foot ceilings and custom built-in cabinetry around a gas fireplace.  Floor to ceiling linen drapes cover the large windows, which has another beautiful view.  The master bathroom includes his and her walk-in closets, Carrera marble shower and a large freestanding soaker tub.
Many heirloom furniture and antique décor pieces are decorated for the holidays throughout the house. The home also includes 8 decorated Christmas trees in a variety of styles and colors. The Hendersons look forward to sharing their home and visiting with everyone during the DAR home tour this year.

Harrison Homeplace

Harrison's Homeplace

The home of Marcus and Kaitlin Harrison is located in the Sharoley Lane subdivision outside of the Morgantown area. The 3,600 square foot home sits on a 2+ acre lot with large oak and cherry trees scattered across the property. The generous outdoor spaces, traditional house plan, and location were the factors that contributed to us calling this place our home.

We have been in the home for a year after moving in the week of Thanksgiving in 2014.  When we heard the previous owners were selling their pharmacy and moving back to their hometown, we contacted them about the home and learned the house would be going into realty in a few days. They graciously allowed us to come view it immediately and we bought it the next day.

This home has been such a blessing to us. We are raising our family in this home so we don't have any "untouchable rooms" and our furnishings were chosen with the foresight of a lived-in home. The same goes for Christmastime at the Harrison Homeplace.  The trimmings are selected based on our celebration of a holiday focused on Jesus, and celebrating the season with our small children. Lots of natural greenery and classic tartan plaids can be found throughout the rooms as we make ready for the Christmas season.

The home tour is sponsored by the Butler County Chapter NSDAR. It will be Sunday, December 6 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. There is a charge of $2.00 per home with funds going toward the Scholarship fund and the other activities sponsored by the chapter.
