2015 BC Bears Baseball Preview

The Butler County Bears baseball team is coming off of a disappointing 12-23 campaign in 2014.  The 2015 season starts with another coaching change for the Bears, their 5th head coach in 6 years, as the 2014 Bears freshman team coach Ben Grey assumes the reigns at the varsity level.  Coach Grey, a standout high school player from Edmonson County and a former collegiate player at Campbellsville University, brings a lot of excitement to the post, along with baseball knowledge and a strong desire to enhance the character of the young men on the team.  Assistant Coaches for the Bears are Adam Shartzer and Clint Clark.

The Bears return five every day starters from 2014; Lake Cameron , Blake Graham, Brandon Jones, Trevor Parker and Eddie Phelps.  The Bears also return a few others who saw varsity action last year in Skyler Moore, Connor Reed, Lucas Tichenor, Gage Ward, and Chris Wood.  The Bears also expect contributions from kids that weren’t a part of last year’s team but have played in the past in seniors Peyton Bratcher and Hunter Wilson, as well as sophomore Ty Burden.  Also, junior transfer Drew Clark will be eligible to join the team on March 23rd.

Rounding out the roster for the Varsity and JV Bears will be Jordan Dobbs, Andrew Henry, Trevor Henderson, and Isaac Pendley.

The Bears opened their season on March 17th and face a very tough schedule this year.  The Bears will also travel to Ft. Walton during Spring Break to participate in a tournament featuring teams from several states.  The Bears will begin district play against Edmonson County, Grayson County and Whitesville Trinity in April, a highly competitive district field in 2015.   The JV schedule will also start following Spring Break.
